Finishing
Monday, April 19, 2010 at 8:08AM Here it is.
Okay. It's a little big. I think I picked the wrong size... even though I went by the measurements and not the "size". I was trying to do the right thing.
And it is a little stiff, but what can you expect from a quilter's muslin? Still wearable, I think. It looks less prego in person than in photos.
Lots of lessons learned:
1. Always keep your Singer: The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing at the ready. You never know when a term like "ease" will show up and you have no idea what that means. You know that sleeves are a bitch from reading several other clothing blogs, but still.
2. Don't sew your collar on backward. It just doesn't work that way.
3. Allow 12 hours or so for sewing and trying on and eating pizza and questioning the whole endeavor.

Wow! Very cool.
I've often said that if I had to make my own clothes, I'd be reduced to wrapping myself in bedsheets and tinfoil. :-)
You are hysterical!!! Seriously.
It looks great from this end...I'll keep the sewing the collar on backwards thing in mind :) - Congrats on the accomplishment!
Thanks, guys!
Haha, I think bed sheets and tinfoil could be a good look. Very grecian.
Come to think of it, I have some bed sheets waiting to be turned into pajama pants.
Never mind the size. You look entirely satisfied rocking your new shirt! Remember when you just thought "hey, I want a shirt." And then you were all, "hey I'm going to make one!" Seriously, I am so impressed. I can't imagine doing that. Please, you know I tweet an update to the entire world when I manage to make my own dinner!
Congrats!
hello there!
...brava to you!
...this shirt is just so...& you look as pleased-as-punch (which you should!)
...set-in sleeves (which can be a little tricky), look just fine
...neckline fits to a tee...
...your topstiching of the decorative/outward facing is neat-as-a-pin
...in fact...i just had a thought (now bear in mind i'm at that mid-age portion of womanhood), but if you would like this to be bit shapely, i don't see why you couldn't pop on a belt...maybe bit wider-type
...anyway...i blabber...
i'm just so proud of you!
happy wknd, louise
